“The whole idea of compassion is based on a keen awareness of the other…. The whole purpose of life is to live by love.”

.

Radical love as purpose has been cropping up everywhere so far this early year. Dreaming of bookshelves and a case to hold as sacred the to-do list to the sky. Lots of creation awaits, our wills should abound to keep up with our intellects. Parallel lines, reverberating beside one another. Wrapped up in the possibility 365 days offer. EveryDaySomething.

Hello dear friend!

I thought I’d share with you today a first forray,

The day went something like this…

We entered a silver morning, dew settling upon our coat sleeves, feet slipping on muddy banks, hoping we weren’t harming the foliage from which we took wreath cuttings. We drove slowly through the deserted cemetery, peaceful estate, eyes ready for any branch or leaf or berry poised to become visual inspiration. Tactile fodder, we cut our fingertips on holly’s caution, we let water drops land in our hair, we took to strolling and abandoned the car. At one point, we came upon a stone totem, carved to resemble a tree, and pondered the two lives lived for this monument.

Winding branch and leaf into some shape like a circle or a square, using twine to secure sharp edges and to strengthen points of frailty, took the smaller portion of the afternoon which by this time had turned to early evening.

Lunar Love

21 Dec

Lady! Hope this reaches you in time/you already know:

Expect a total lunar eclipse tonight, starting around 10:30 pm.  It also happens to fall on the Winter Solstice, the first time these two coincide for 456 years.  Since our blog namesake stems from a school of thought that takes these events very seriously, I felt it quite necessary to discuss.  I am very happy to be alive on nights like these, you know?

Called I want to be her!

But I don’t, I just want to emulate

her insouciance,

to purchase her red bag

and to breeze around NY

right about now.

Greetings!… and other musings

30 Nov

When we met (officially) a few years ago, I indeed felt it was the beginning of a marvelous friendship.  And although lines on a map have come to separate us, our collective and independent creativities have finally found a space to share, to muse, to dream of faraway places and futures near at hand.  So, my dear friend, I am enlivened by the promise of this endeavor, and I cannot wait to see where it takes us.

I wanted this to be short and sweet, but I have to leave you with these breathtaking images I recently came across.

Solitary bees in Turkey are collecting flower petals and geniously glueing them with mud in order to create colorful cocoons for their young.  These bright little nurseries appear so delicate, but in truth are strong and protective.  I came across these images in the December issue of National Geographic- insanely inspiring.  Those colors!
